Two Wolves

Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote.  -Benjamin Franklin

Today I see two wolves in our country, one is big brother government, and the other is big business.  Each one has the support of supposedly opposing political parties.  These wolves seem to be fighting over the same lamb, the American People.  Though they fight with each other at times, I believe they each have agreed to eat us for lunch.  One wants to enslave us to their programs and handouts to fatten us up and lull us into a sense of false security.  The other wants to enslave us to their products and services to fatten us up and lull us into a sense of false independence.  We have given up our freedom to chose what we eat, how we communicate, how we make it to work and how we care for our health by letting a few large companies monopolize the market.  They did not get into these oligopolies on their own.  It was our desire to get "help" from the government with bills that artificially inflated the price of food commodities like corn and sugar, and the price of labor as in unions and minimum wage.  It was our desire to sue everyone and get something for nothing that destroyed our legal system.  It was our desire to get paid for 40hrs a week while only working 38.  We sold our integrity for 2 hours of work.  These were the things we did to price mom and pop out of the market, to sue them into bankruptcy, to force them to plant garbage Frankenstein corn to feed unnatural and inhumanely treated chickens, cows, and pigs.  To force them to sell out to big companies who now fund the research to tell you tobacco is safe.  Research money that doctors take to pay off their student loans because we price them out of the market with managed health care and faith in miracle drugs rather than adjusting our lifestyle and owning our part in making ourselves sick.   Benjamin Franklin is right, we have given up our food security, our health security, and our job security to a small handful of wolves.  Hopefully we are either so sick they will die from eating us, or we are sick and tired of their lies and deception that we stand on what little integrity we have left and take back our food supply, our health, and our liberty.

Also From Benjamin Franklin:

When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic.

They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither safety nor liberty.
Where liberty dwells, there is my country.
